Terminal learning objectives

One per module, stated as action, condition, and standard. The standard is what a learner must demonstrate; it is observable and checkable.

  1. M1

    When You Run Hot

    Action
Stay in command of your own emotional state under operating pressure by detecting it early, planning for recurring triggers, buying decision time in the room, re-reading the situation accurately, and repairing quickly after a visible loss of composure.
    Condition
Given facilitated instruction, the Steady Command Participant Guide, the Caprock Fieldworks case study, and self-selected real-world situations, with the Signal Scan Card, Trigger Map Worksheet, HOLD Card, Second Read Card, and Recovery Statement template available,
    Standard
Produce a completed Signal Scan Card with a precise name, a Heat rating, and a time-stamped source; a Trigger Map with ten logged moments, two families, two visible Tells, one dated countermove, and a named trusted person; a partner-rated HOLD drill in which the Decide move matches the decision rule for the rated heat; a Second Read Card whose Second Read passes the truth test and names a behavior and a verification date; a six-line Recovery Statement with no "but" or "if" delivered in under one minute; a completed case-study application for Chapter 1; a score of 7 or higher on the ten-item knowledge check; and a written application commitment with what, with whom, by when, and how I will know.
  2. M2

    When You Miss the Signals

    Action
Read the people in the room and on the team accurately, by tracking each person's baseline, checking words against voice, body, and context, drafting the other party's perspective, and confirming every read through a Read-Back before acting on it.
    Condition
Given facilitated instruction, the Steady Command Participant Guide, the Caprock Fieldworks case study, and self-selected real-world situations, including a person the participant leads, an exchange from the last two weeks, and a decision requiring another party's agreement in the next two weeks.
    Standard
The participant produces a Baseline Read Roster with three complete five-channel rows and one rated deviation with a Read-Back time for any Drift or Shift; a Channel Check Grid on the Chapter 2 transcript with all four channels, an explicit mismatch call, a hypothesis beginning "My hypothesis is," and a dated test; a Perspective Draft that passes a partner's signature test with three distinct interests and a specific fear; and a six-line Read-Back delivered in a pair drill with a five-second silence held and no solution offered before the correction, as verified by the partner. Knowledge Check M2 scored at 8 of 10 or higher on self-assessment.
  3. M3

When the Hard Conversation Gets Avoided or Botched

    Action
Decide on evidence whether a hard conversation must happen, structure and deliver it, manage rising heat without abandoning the message, and sequence the conversations needed to move a decision the leader does not control.
    Condition
Given facilitated instruction, the Steady Command Participant Guide, the Caprock Fieldworks case study, and self-selected real-world situations, including a postponed conversation and a stalled decision from the participant's own next two weeks,
    Standard
The participant produces a completed Silence Ledger with all four cost lines in operating terms, a one-sentence Ask, and a calendar date; a BRIEF Planner in which the Bottom Line is one sentence delivered within twenty seconds and the Expectation can be repeated back by a partner; a Temperature Call performance in which the level is called at least three times, pace drops at 3, the heat is named without blame at 4, and the return opens with B and E; and a Stake Map with at least four parties, concerns in the parties' own words, a named unlock, and a dated sequence with the decision-maker last — all checked in class against the rubrics in the Participant Guide.
  4. M4

    When Trust Is Thin

    Action
Rebuild thin trust on a team by diagnosing and repairing the weak strand with one person, installing the three Voice Protocol habits, running a Repair Sequence that holds, and measuring team climate on data rather than impression.
    Condition
Given facilitated instruction, the Steady Command Participant Guide, the Caprock Fieldworks case study, and self-selected real-world situations, including one thin-trust relationship, one recurring team meeting, one damaged working relationship, and the participant's own team as the pulse population,
    Standard
Participant produces a Three-Strand Trust Diagnostic with evidence-backed ratings from the other person's view, a targeted strand, a repeatable 30-day behavior, and a dated day-30 ask; a Voice Log with a real ask, a two-sentence admit, three clean Answer-drill responses, and a dated first week; a Repair Sequence Planner with a specific acknowledgment, a one-sentence acceptance containing no explanation, a cost-matched repair, a visible commitment, and a calendared two-week check; a Climate Pulse setup with a dated prediction and a discussion opener that neither defends nor narrows; a completed case-study mediation and action plan; a score of at least 7 of 10 on Knowledge Check M4; and a written application commitment placed on the 30-Day Sustainment Plan.
