Audience edition: Government and Defense. Plan tier: Professional. Length: 10 hours. Passing score: 80%. Price: $897 for 365 days.

Description:

Mission-Ready Planning for military and government staffs: a twelve-skill method for planning under time pressure, from the planning clock to the risk register.

Plans fail in predictable ways: the clock is spent at the top and starved at the bottom, the why lives in one head, the directive's unwritten tasks surface at the worst moment, one favorite option is dressed up with two decoys, and risk is absorbed silently by whoever stands closest to it. Twelve skills under five pillars (Shared Understanding, Disciplined Analysis, Option Discipline, Risk Ownership, and Decisive Communication) each produce an artifact built on your real work. Every artifact has the same test: could someone act on this without you in the room?

Task Force Kestrel, a battalion-sized force holding a sector along the Merlo River, has two days before the opposing force is expected to attempt a crossing.

Target audience:

Military and government staffs that plan under time pressure, working a real operation.
This edition's scenarios, examples, and vocabulary are set in a government and defense organization. The objectives and standards are the same in every edition.

Outcomes -- what a learner will be able to do:

- Establish the time plan, intent statement, and team roles for a real planning effort.
- Analyze a real directive and its operating arena to produce the task, constraint, information, and effects picture a plan must be built on.
- Develop, pressure-test, and compare distinct options against pre-set criteria, and brief a recommendation.
- Convert a decision into a five-part order, confirm shared understanding through brief-backs and rehearsal, and establish an owned risk register.

Prerequisites:

- None.

Modules (4):

## Module 1. Planning Foundations (M1)

Terminal Learning Objective. Action: Establish the time plan, intent statement, and team roles for a real planning effort. Condition: Given the common conditions stated in How to Use. Standard: Participant produces a Planning Clock Card with a backward-planned timeline honoring the one-third/two-thirds rule and a named handoff (receiver, format, time); a 3P Intent that survives a no-explanation pair test by a partner two levels removed; and a completed four-role charter whose Challenger passes the credibility rule.

Module length: 2.5 hours.

Lessons:

- L-1 Planning Foundations (interactive, 150 minutes, required)

## Module 2. Understanding the Situation (M2)

Terminal Learning Objective. Action: Analyze a real directive and its operating arena to produce the task, constraint, information, and effects picture a plan must be built on. Condition: Given the common conditions stated in How to Use. Standard: Participant produces an SSC Breakdown with verbatim stated tasks, at least three surfaced silent tasks, a defended Critical few of three or fewer, and a ledger whose assumptions carry owners, validation plans, and replan triggers; a four-lens Arena Scan in which every lens ends in an effect on own options; and a DCI List where every item links to a named pending decision with one owner and a latest-time-of-value traced to the decision's clock.

Module length: 2.5 hours.

Lessons:

- L-2 Understanding the Situation (interactive, 150 minutes, required)

## Module 3. Options and Decision (M3)

Terminal Learning Objective. Action: Develop, pressure-test, and compare distinct options against pre-set criteria, and brief a recommendation. Condition: Given the common conditions stated in How to Use. Standard: Participant team produces two-plus options passing the Doable/Distinct/Complete/Fits screen under criteria frozen before generation (freeze time logged), with kills named by screen; a Pressure Test record with at least two decision points carrying observable triggers and pre-decided branches; and a weighted Decision Matrix with evidence-cited scores, an honest sensitivity finding, and a briefed recommendation whose tradeoffs are visible.

Module length: 2.5 hours.

Lessons:

- L-3 Options and Decision (interactive, 150 minutes, required)

## Module 4. Communicating and Executing (M4)

Terminal Learning Objective. Action: Convert a decision into a five-part order, confirm shared understanding through brief-backs and rehearsal, and establish an owned risk register. Condition: Given the common conditions stated in How to Use. Standard: Participant produces a complete five-part Marching Order with the intent carried verbatim, every task a verb with one owner and a time, triggers from the Pressure Test in the Plan, and every task funded in Provisions; conducts a brief-back meeting the own-words standard with text defects fixed; and builds a risk register with sourced, rated risks, controls carrying named owners, and residual risk accepted by name at a defended level.

Module length: 2.5 hours.

Lessons:

- L-4 Communicating and Executing (interactive, 150 minutes, required)
